NEW YEAR MESSAGE FROM YOUR PRESIDENT

NEW YEAR MESSAGE FROM YOUR PRESIDENT

Happy New Year to you all. From your President   2014 will be a very busy year for us. Starting with the New Annual Exhibition you will now be able to present PDI and Prints as one exhibition. The Judging for the PDI will be on Friday the 21st of February followed by the prints on Saturday and Sunday. I understand the volunteers list is already filling up. Have had some good enquiries about the exhibition. The main thing is, do not put the same image in the print and PDI. The Kent Messenger trophy for photojournalism will be awarded to the Print or PDI that the judges feel tells a news story, that is a fair and accurate representation of the event it depicts. Usually these images will come from the colour pictorial, mono pictorial or the portrait categories. Coordinators please go through the checklist before sending in your prints. I don’t want to see anyone disqualified. Unfortunately we may not be able to show the exhibition at the Maidstone Museum but other locations are being sought. After an amazing Ross Cup from Faversham and District Camera Club they now embark on the Jubilee Trophy to be held on the 8th of March. Let's all give them the same support (if not more) for this one. It makes everything worthwhile when you all join in. Following this, the KCPA are organising the PAGB adjudications on the 26th and 27th of April at Oakwood school in Maidstone. This is a very large event and will require many volunteers. I hope to see many of you there, as this is a great learning curve for your PAGB distinctions. Hopefully we will have a workshop up and running soon after this to help with future distinctions. On the 28th of June we have the AGM, which will be held at the Faversham Community Centre. Naturally I will expect all clubs to be represented by their delegates. Do you know who your club delegates are? Can I just mention that on the 12th of March William Cheung FRPS , the legendry photography magazine editor, will be at the Ditton Community Centre showing some of his fantastic photojournalistic work and much more. See your club secretary for a £5 ticket. As mentioned at the last AGM and the Delegates meeting if there is enough interest the KCPA will start a Slide Group. Please give your name to your club secretary who will pass it on to the KCPA.   Dates for your Diary October 19th Chairman’s Day (Meet the President) November 22nd Ross Cup (Parkwood CC)   All the Best………..Alan
