John Wigmore FRPS MPAGB APAGB BPE4 EIAP (29.05.1934 – 21.10.2021)
Very sad news for the KCPA as one of its long service members John Wigmore passed away after a short illness on the 21st of October. He had served with the committee for 36 years becoming President from 1976 to 1980 and again from 1996 to 1999 and remained on the committee until 2010.
In 1989 he received his APAGB and in 2014 was made a Life Vice President of the KCPA. John was also a highly respected judge for both the KCPA and the PAGB until 2016.
Amongst his distinctions, he had been unusually awarded his FRPS twice.
He was a very keen digital photographer and in answer to the questions of accepting digitally produced images In 1998 John wrote
“In 5 to 10 years digital produce pictures will be accepted as the norm so why not do so now”
and then set about starting and supporting the first meeting of the Kent Digital Group.
Following his presidency in 1999 John became chair of the KCPA Judges panel for 3 years and remained on the panel until 2010 and in that year he was recognised on the PAGB recorded lecture list as the author of To Judge or not to Judge
